There are dreams we have from the dream state and then we have dreams for our waking life. In this blog we are going to talk about dreams that we have for our personal life. These dreams are about things that we like to experience in the physical. And everybody has certain dreams or desires for their lives and having desires is completely natural. There is nothing wrong with having desires and there is nothing wrong with any specific desire that you desire. There is always a valid reason why you desire what you desire, or why you dream what you dream about. But then we also have artificial dreams which are dreams that aren’t really our own dreams but they are dreams that are programmed into us. And many people are stuck in those artificial dreams and programs…
What is an Artificial Dream?
An artificial dream can look like anything. When we have artificial dreams it really feels like it’s our dream and we are really convinced that we want to have that experience. But these dreams are scripted and programmed into us through the media and society. Living from an artificial dream means that we aren’t living our lives from a state of freedom. In that case we aren’t free in our mind because we are not thinking for ourselves and when we don’t consciously choose to do what we want. We may go after these artificial dreams to a point where all the signs are saying ‘this is not the way’ but we hold onto the dream because of the potential outcome that we think will make us happy. Sometimes we hold onto a dream because it keeps us from feeling lower vibrational state and it serves as a coping mechanism. This is why it’s hard to let go of a dream that you had for many years. On top of that it threatens your identity and the thoughts that you are familiar with.
Artificial dream or Organic dream?
We have to make two important distinctions here. There are people who are meant to live out the artificial dream and that is in alignment for them. And then there are those of us who are on the path of awakening that are breaking out of the system and out of the artificial dream.
We have so many individuals on this planet with different interests which means that everyone can have different desires. And for some their desires may actually be in alignment for them and bring them true happiness. And for some of us we have desires that are not in alignment and that keep us stuck. But either way, there is no right or wrong. There is nothing wrong with being in an artificial dream because it’s part of the awakening process. It’s up to the individual to choose what they want to experience, an artificial dream or an organic dream.
If you have a specific dream that you really want to experience, whether that is an artificial dream or an organic dream, then don’t give up on the dream! But there are also dreams that we have to give up on because they are not in alignment or not for our greatest good and come from wounding. And most importantly artificial dreams may actually stand in the way of what we really want and desire in life. We don’t know what life can look like beyond our current perspective.
Stuck in a Consciousness Trap?
Desires that come from wounding can make us really hooked onto the idea of becoming that person or reaching that certain goal. But in actuality it keeps us from seeing other options that we may actually like more. You may find other options or desires that are actually beneath the wounding, which could bring you true happiness and satisfaction in life. And we can’t see these other options when we are stuck in a consciousness trap.
We have to be highly aware that the dreams that we have may be a consciousness trap. We think we truly want these specific dreams or outcomes but when we take a deeper look into what we truly want, we may find some very different desires. And there are many consciousness traps that distract us from figuring out what we truly want.
Some examples of a dream that may come from wounding due to trauma from our past are: we want to become this famous singer, actor, dancer or something along those lines, but what we are truly wanting is feeling seen and a sense of significance. Or we want to travel the world and hold onto that desire for years, only to figure out what we are really after is feeling free to do whatever we want. What we are really doing is filling the need that we have been missing from our childhood.
Forgotten Human Desires
And then there are things that we all desire simply because we are human. Many desires that humans actually have is connection to each other, connection to nature and living a life that is the most natural for us. There are certain things that naturally feel good to every person because they are human and operate a certain way. For example, people like feeling the sun on their skin, breathing in fresh air, dipping their toes in the sea etc. But we have been so disconnected from our nature, our bodies and each other that we have lost touch with what really matters in life. We have buried these desires deep down inside and we have forgotten them…
Many don’t realize how much they like these natural human things, because they are preoccupied with artificial dreams. We may want to become (…fill in the blank), while we may actually be much happier living in a sustainable home, growing our own food and create a family.
Again, there is nothing wrong with these desires, they may actually be our true desires. But be open to the idea that we just don’t know what makes us truly happy and that we may be stuck in an artificial dream.
How to recognize an Artificial Dream?
- The Ego
Many desires come from ego and the ego can keep us stuck for a really long time. A lot of people are interested in manifesting what they want. But most desires come from the ego and are ‘programmed’ desires. We think we want that something, but if we would dig a bit deeper we may actually find that we want other things instead. In order to figure out if the desires that you have come from the ego or not, is by tuning into your body and observe if you feel rushed? Does thinking about what you desire make you feel impatient? Do you feel like you have to have it now or else…
Almost every time when you feel rushed in whatever action that you are wanting to take, is coming from the ego. When it feels calm and peaceful you know it’s from intuition and a higher guidance. Unless you need to run from a bear and you feel urgency to run, of course you run!
- How does it truly make you feel? Does it make you happy?
Feeing into the felt sense of your body isn’t easy for many and it takes practice. But tuning into your feeling body is where you can figure out if you truly want something or not. You may have always felt resistance coming up around your desires that may be an indication that you don’t actually want it. It is also true that sometimes we need to move through those uncomfortable emotions to reach our goals and desires. But it’s up to you to figure that one out.
There are definitely times where you may have ignored yourself and your inner guidance and kept going after something that you actually don’t want. Maybe you went to that birthday party, but you didn’t actually want to go? There may be parts within you that truly want what you desire and there may be parts of you that don’t. In that case you need to do part’s work and see where the resistance lays. But your feeling body is your inner compass that tells you where to go or not. And it takes time to learn how to listen.
3. How long have you been holding onto the dream?
Another thing that can help you see if you are in an artificial dream is, how long have you been holding onto the same dream? Has it been years? Are you holding onto a childhood dream that isn’t relevant anymore? If it hasn’t happened yet then the above mentioned could be your indication that it’s time to let go of that dream in order to get unstuck. Again, you don’t have to give up on a dream when you are really certain that you want that. But if you are miserable along the way you may need to reflect on what you are putting your time and energy into. Sometimes you have to let go of the desire in order to move forward in life and have a change of true happiness that you didn’t see was possible before. It may be scary to do so, but there absolutely will be something better on the other side.
How to get out of an Artificial Dream?
- Commit to a path of healing
In order to get out of artificial dreams we need to be on a healing path. When we are born into a matrix and get programmed by societies ways of doing it’s only ‘normal’ to have artificial dreams. And the challenge is to find what is truly your authentic and organic dream. And a big part of this is healing trauma and gaining more awareness. With more awareness you see more options of what is possible. But if we hold more density in our bodies we are less likely to see what is on the other side of the perspective that we are currently holding. The more layers we heal the clearer our organic dreams will become.
- Live out the artificial dream
Another way out of artificial dreams is to actually live it and see where it takes you. You can always course correct in life if you don’t like something that you thought you wanted. And what you may like now doesn’t need to make you happy later. It takes courage to let go of a dream that you held onto for so long and it definitely involves grieving your desires. And by grieving your desires you let go of an old identity so that you can step into something new. It’s part of life and it’s part of the process. You may actually end up finding your lives purpose, even within the artificial dream. But don’t let it take you somewhere for too long to a point where you are unhappy. Admitting to the truth of how you feel takes courage.
- Revoking consent to artificial dreams
Another thing that can never hurt is some spiritual hygiene. You can set the intention to not be deceived by artificial dreams. You can use any word that comes to mind and keep it simple. As long as the intention clears away all that isn’t in full truth and transparency it will work. Intention is everything.
An example can be: ‘I revoke consent for my consciousness to be picked over as a way to create artificial dreams that seem relevant for me but are nothing more than a distraction.’
If you want to take a short cut that goes beyond all the current desires most people have, the one thing you actually want to focus on is to remember who you are and remember what that feels like. Then follow your impulse on what to do next. Figure out who you are, shine your light, share your gifts, contribute in the way that you want to and live out your organic dreams.
Until next time.
