Have you ever felt drained after being around certain people or places, or noticed a thought creeping in that just doesn’t feel like yours? That’s a sign that your energy can be influenced by things outside of you.

As human beings, we all have an energy field inside and around us. Most of the time, we can’t see it, so we often ignore it completely. We go through life reacting to thoughts—many of which aren’t actually ours. Those thoughts create emotions, and together they form a vibration we emit.

If we want to thrive, it’s essential to live from our own center—our internal guidance system—instead of being driven by external energies or influences. That’s why having a spiritual hygiene routine is so important (some people also call this an energetic hygiene routine, focusing on clearing and protecting your energy daily).

What is a Spiritual Hygiene Routine?

A spiritual hygiene routine is a simple practice of saying statements or intentions—either silently or out loud—to clear yourself of anything that isn’t yours or that you don’t want to carry daily.

You can create your own statements or read pre-written ones. Your intentions matter—they shape your experience. Everything you allow in your inner dialogue affects how you feel and how you show up. Ensuring this dialogue is supportive and empowering is the heart of a spiritual hygiene routine.

Why Everyone Needs It

You are, at your core, a spiritual being. We all carry thoughts and energy that can stick in our bodies or fields, intentionally or not. A spiritual hygiene routine is especially helpful if you:

  • Are in the public eye

  • Interact with many people daily

  • Work or study in busy environments

Even if none of these situations apply, this routine is valuable for everyone, helping you stay grounded, clear, and fully yourself.

Understanding Entities

Entities are a key reason to maintain spiritual hygiene. We’ve all heard stories about ghosts or spirits, but they’re not as scary as we’ve been taught.

An entity can be:

  • A ghost/being

  • A thought

  • You yourself

Yes—you are also an entity in physical form.

Entities can attach to your body or energy field if you don’t clear yourself energetically. Think of a negative thought that triggers a downward spiral—it could be an entity influencing you without your awareness. Entities show up in many forms, which is why spiritual hygiene is so essential.

Chords: Invisible Connections

When we connect with others—physically or even through thoughts—we create energetic chords. Some chords are healthy, some can drain or influence us negatively.

If you’re around many people or in the public eye, you may carry more energies than usual. A spiritual hygiene routine helps you stay the sole occupant of your body, clearing anything that doesn’t belong.

Revocations: Clearing Statements for Daily Life

A revocation is a set of statements used to clear yourself from anything you don’t want to carry, whether it’s entities, negative patterns, or limiting beliefs. Think of it as a contract between you and the universe.

Simple Revocation Example

  • I return everything that isn’t mine to sender.

  • I revoke consent to sacrifice myself for the well-being of others.

  • I release all expectations of myself and others.

  • I release all judgments of who I think I should or should not be.

  • Anything preventing my optimum health, I transmute, clear, and release now.

Advanced Revocation Example

  • I claim sole ownership of my body and my energy. I ask and command all beings or energies that I have consciously or unconsciously allowed, and that are not truly mine, to leave my body now.

  • In every timeline, life phase, dimension, or level of existence, I release all agreements or connections that negatively impact my well-being.

Revocations aren’t only for entities—they also help release old patterns, limiting beliefs, and anything you no longer want to carry, like self-doubt or disconnection from self-love.

Example for self-love:

  • Anything preventing me from feeling love for myself, I transmute, clear, and release now.

Statements can be short or long, as long as they feel true and strong for you. Let creativity and intuition guide your practice.

How a Spiritual Hygiene Routine Can Look

You can do your routine anytime, but morning and evening are most convenient. Anytime something feels off, ask yourself:

  1. Is this mine?

  2. Return to sender what isn’t yours.

  3. Take a deep breath in and out.

Your breath carries life force energy, helping you release negativity and invite clarity.

Example 5-Minute Daily Routine

  • Morning: Ask “Is this mine?” and return energy to sender.

  • Visualize the color Electric Violet Light surrounding you.

  • Take 3 deep breaths: breath life force in, breath negativity out.

  • Set one positive intention for your day.

  • Evening: Repeat steps 1–3 to clear any energy accumulated during the day.

Using Colors for Spiritual Hygiene

Colors can enhance your practice: Electric Violet Light, Rose Gold, and Gold.

  • Electric Violet Light: Clears negative energies, repairs the body, shields you, and can cleanse spaces, items, or even hotel rooms.

  • Rose Gold: Carries the frequency of unconditional love, dissolving low-vibration energy and supporting self-love.

  • Gold: Protective. Use it when sleeping or in unstable environments to create a shield around yourself.

Even if visualization is difficult, setting the intention is enough—the energy responds to your focus.

Smudging: Optional

You may have heard of smudging with sage, palo santo, or sweetgrass. While these can support spiritual hygiene, your intention matters more than the object itself. You can achieve the same effect with thought, breath, and color visualization. Smudging can complement your routine if it feels good, but it isn’t necessary.

Conclusion

A spiritual hygiene routine helps you:

  • Stay grounded and clear

  • Clear and protect your energy field

  • Release negative thoughts and patterns

  • Connect with your inner guidance

  • Bring more self-love and light into your life

It only takes a few minutes a day, but the impact is profound. By making this a daily habit, you ensure that you are the sole occupant of your body and energy, and that you navigate the world from your own center, fully alive and thriving.
