Experiencing stress in life is inevitable and in our modern daily life we are experiencing more stress then ever before. There are several ways to release stress from the body and mind, and yoga is one of the most effective techniques to release those stressors. This is one of the reasons why yoga has become a very popular practice (besides the fact that it’s fun to do) and it is getting more and more popular still. You can find yoga classes almost everywhere these days (including the online world) and private yoga classes are also on the rise.
So why do we want to pay more for private yoga classes? We invest in personal training, physiotherapists or an osteopath. But what is the benefit of investing in private yoga sessions? Here are 6 reasons why you want to invest in private yoga classes.
- Personal Attention & Guidance to completely meet your Needs and Personal Goals.
We do yoga for a reason and working one-on-one with a yoga teacher provides the opportunity to work on your individual goals. During a private yoga class there is more time and attention to work on what you want to achieve by doing yoga, compared to a group-class or even an online class. Doing online yoga is fun, but there is an increasing need for connection and quality time with people. And a one-on-one session with a yoga teacher can meet that need as well.
In a private yoga class, you can communicate specifically what you like to achieve with the yoga teacher. And a yoga teacher can help you achieve your goals in a faster amount of time than during a group-class. This also means there is more time and attention for those with physical injuries and also improve the recovery process.
Another benefit of private sessions is that the yoga teacher can give your personal corrections which they may miss or don’t have time for during a group class. A private yoga class can be completely tailored to you and help deepen your practice.
- Less Distraction and More Focus on Yourself.
In a yoga class with multiple people there is more noise physically in the room and energetic noise (see point number 3). During a group class we need to put more effort into focusing on ourselves since there is more ‘background’ noise. People move, shift, breath, cough, sneeze, scratch and move props around during a yoga class, therefor there is more stimuli. And whether we are aware of it or not, subconsciously this stimuli or information is picked up on and processed by our bodies.
Joining a yoga class after a long day of work may still be an overload to our nervous system depending how sensitive you are, and in return we may not be able to fully destress and relax during a group class. A private yoga class allows for less distraction and more focus on yourself which brings about a deeper relaxation.
- Better Energetic Hygiene.
Everybody has thoughts and emotions and you can’t control that. Whatever people are feeling and thinking is also the energy they bring into the room. And our energetic field expands very far out! This means we are 100% in each other’s energy fields when we are in a room together. And with that we can subconsciously pick up on thoughts, feelings and energies that aren’t ours. It may even increase our stress levels a little because of this. During a private yoga class, you are only dealing with the energies of yourself and the yoga teacher. So, it’s important to choose a yoga teacher that you feel good around and that you are comfortable with.
- Great for highly sensitive people, people with social anxiety or burn-out.
Private yoga classes are also great for people that are highly sensitive because, as mentioned before, there is less stimuli to process for the body. And this will feel much better for highly sensitive people and allows for deeper relaxation. Private classes are also great for people with social anxiety because it will only be you and the yoga teacher. And it’s great for people who are experiencing burn-out.
When we are burned-out, we are extremely tired and we also can’t handle much stimuli. This is why private classes are ideal for people dealing with burn-out. And it may even be possible to do private sessions at your home or do online sessions, so that you don’t have to leave your home during this time period. And it’s a win if the yoga teacher knows what burn-out is about and give you additional recovery tips.
- More Accessible
Private yoga classes are also great for people who are new to yoga and feel uncomfortable to start in a group class. One-on-one sessions a great way to improve your confidence with yoga. But private yoga is for beginners as well as advanced yoga practitioners.
Private sessions are also more accessible for people with a busy schedule and those who can’t attend the regular class times that is offered. Yoga teachers that offer private classes are more flexible with time. So, another great benefit is that you can book a private yoga session that fits your schedule better.
- Extra motivation to go and schedule time for yourself
When you invest in private yoga classes there will be more motivation to go and you are less likely to cancel, since you have a one-on-one appointment with the yoga teacher. And it’s the perfect motivation to schedule time for yourself. If you have a hard time working on self-care and doing things solely for you, then private yoga classes are an excellent way to give yourself some quality time.
People are looking for alternatives to become healthier
There is an increased pressure in society and in the healthcare systems and this is where yoga teachers are much more needed and valued now. More and more people are looking for alternative ways to work on their health when the conventional medical healthcare system fails them. There are more often longer waiting lists for general healthcare to get rid of back problems, breathing problems, high blood pressure, (mental)stress etc. People are moving away from general healthcare and looking for alternatives like yoga. And it’s an increasingly growing market.
We pay an osteopath or physiotherapist, but why not invest in trained yoga teachers to help us reduce and get rid of our health problems?
We all have to take responsibility for our own health and it’s essential to invest in the right health care when we need it.
Until next time.
