Taking our time in life isn’t so common anymore these days, while they are absolutely essential for a satisfied life and our health. Taking our time in life is actually natural. If we look at nature we see that nature is slow. We go through the seasons in a slow pace, we see plants and trees grow slowly but in a natural rhythm. The sun comes up and goes down slowly. And yet, we humans rush from one activity to the other without being present with the experience and without taking our time to do what we need to do in a relaxed pace. But taking our time has at least 3 beneficial reasons for our lives.

  1. Taking your time ‘saves time’.

The first reason why it is OK to take your time in life is this: when we rush every day or if we feel a constant urge to finish tasks fast, then we are never present with our life experience and we don’t actually ‘save time’ even though we might think so. You can actually do all your life tasks that you are rushing through in the exact amount of time (maybe even faster) when you take your time. When we rush we put pressure on ourselves and this creates stress. This stress doesn’t allow for natural creativity and inspiration to arise. It keeps the body in fight or flight and it’s more likely to make mistakes or overlook things. Rushing most likely takes more time than we realize.

There is an underlying reason why we rush and that is because we are in survival mode and we don’t feel safe. We have to consciously look at the things that make us feel unsafe and what makes us want to rush through life. It can be many things or just a few factors in our life. When we become aware of the things that make us rush then we can choose a different approach. When we take our time instead of fighting against time, then we are more likely to feel the present moment and we will feel much better about our everyday lives.

  1. Taking your time creates more SPACE to allow natural realizations and inspiration to arise.

When we take our time to go through the natural rhythm of our lives without control, without our ‘shoulds’ and all the activities that we put on our to do list, we are more likely to have realizations and inspiration.

We not only have more realizations and inspiration, we also allow for natural healing to take place. Sometimes healing doesn’t need us to take action, like meditating, reading that next book or doing that next healing technique. Sometimes the antidote is actually not trying to change anything and just BE. It can be miraculous what you find if you allow life to happen instead of trying to mold it into something you ‘think’ you want or you ‘think’ you need to do. To arrive in this state of being takes a high level of surrendering and not easy to attain for most.

When we reduce outside noise and stimulus we can focus on ourselves. Having space (notice the word ‘pace’ in it) in our mind and in our day creates more space with ourselves. And this may be one of the most important things that we need. This is truly a hidden secret that most have yet to find. It’s a secret because it’s not an easy state to arrive in. There are things that you need to do, but you can find a way to do these things from a relaxed approach. It takes practice and it takes working with limiting beliefs.

When you do take your time in life more often you may realize that allowing the natural flow of life IS what creates that success and happiness that you are looking. Allowing the natural flow of life means forgetting about time and do the things that you want to do without putting a time stamp on it. This IS how you can fully enjoy your day and feeling that joy from the inside. Taking your time every day and taking it slow IS a game changer.

  1. Taking your time helps to regulate the nervous system and improve your health.

Another reason why we want to take our time is because it helps to regulate our nervous system and improve our health. Taking our time reduces the body’s stress chemicals and this will make us feel much more at ease, relaxed and regulated. When we take our time, we are able to become aware of the subtle biological impulses our body give us every day, listen to it and take action according to it. This allows us to stay healthy long term.

We also want to take our time in conversations that we have instead of feeling rushed and feeling afraid to ‘take’ someone else’s time. The moment you take your time in a conversation allows for the other person to take their time as well. Plus, you give someone permission to also take it slow (we copy each other’s behavior). This helps the other person to regulate their nervous system and hopefully passes it on to the next person. It’s a win-win scenario for both if we take our time.

Long story short…it’s productive to take your time in life.

Remember you have all the time in the world because everything happens in the quantum field. You cannot waste time. And if you aren’t able to finish a task today then tomorrow is another day, it’s only a few hours away.
